Generative AI startup Typeface, which focuses on enterprise solutions, has made two new acquisitions just over a year after raising $165 million at a $1 billion valuation.
On Monday, Typeface announced its purchase of Treat, an AI-driven personalized photo product company, and Narrato, a content creation and management platform powered by AI. These acquisitions are expected to boost Typeface's multimodal AI capabilities and further its goal of transforming content creation from start to finish.
In a statement, Typeface highlighted that these acquisitions enhance its visual and textual AI offerings, adding that the integration of Treat and Narrato's technologies will strengthen its portfolio. Typeface, founded in 2022 by former Adobe CTO Abhay Parasnis, offers tools for generating text and images, personalizing AI to fit brand styles, and integrating with various apps and services. The company prioritizes brand governance and privacy, training dedicated AI models for each customer to keep their assets secure.
Treat and Narrato align with Typeface's enterprise-focused strategy. Treat, founded by Matt Osman and ex-Drizly CTO Hugh Hunter in NYC, uses AI to generate product images tailored to specific demographic data, such as creating ads based on customer preferences. Narrato, founded in Australia in 2022 by Sophia Solanki, provides an AI-powered content assistant along with tools for collaboration, content planning, and workflow management across various formats like articles, video scripts, and social media.
Before the acquisitions, Treat raised $8.5 million from investors including Greylock, while Narrato secured over $1 million from Airtree Ventures and other backers. Typeface did not disclose the financial terms of the deals.
These acquisitions are the latest in a series for Typeface, which previously acquired TensorTour, an AI photo and video editing suite, in January and chatbot app Cypher in May. The company’s remaining funds from its $165 million raise have not been disclosed.
